Village Spartans 20 – Moore 55
Moore continued their excellent run of form of late with a dominant win over Village Spartans, seeing Moore win 3 games on the bounce for the first time this season.
With a number of players injured or unavailable, the Moss Lane outfit were able to only send 16 players to the fixture, however the 16 were more than capable of bringing home a comfortable win.
Moore were able to handle the game with comparative ease and were able to open the scoring early on with an excellent solo run from Full Back Joe Pidgeon to open the scoring. Spartans were able to draw the game back to 7-5 early on with a well worked move on the outside, but Moore would quickly rise to the ascendency and control the game.
Time and again, Moore were able to disrupt the flow of the Spartans game and retain possession of the ball thanks to the excellent work of the Moore Forwards. This combined with an exquisite offloading game saw Tony Fretwell cross the line for his first try for Moore, as well as scores for Tom Banks and Mike Barr as Moore took an excellent 26-5 in at half time.
With credit to Village Spartans the hosts never looked like giving up and were able to score first in the second half. However, Moore would continue where they had left off and continue with an excellent brand of flowing Rugby which the hosts struggled to contain. Mikey Woollacott opened his account for the season with two tries coming off the back of excellent opportunistic offloads and both Tony Fretwell and Joe Pidgeon added further tries as Moore showed some of the best attacking prowess they had this season.
The kicking of Matt Bradshaw also boosted Moore, with the No. 10 kicking a penalty and 6 of 8 conversions, giving Moore an even greater cushion as the game ended 20-55.
