Moore 32 – Capenhurst 15
Moore’s celebration of its 50th year was capped with a victory over Capenhurst, with a stand out performance from Max Holland ensuring the win.
Moore played in the game at a full capacity Moss Lane, and the crowd were treated to an excellent start with Holland breaking through the line, before offloading to Jack Harvey for the early score.
Capenhurst got back into the game with a penalty to take the game to 7-3, but Moore once again pulled in front as Holland broke through the line again, giving an excellent offload to Adam Wadsworth to score and make it 12-3.
Capenhurst would be the next team to score, with a scrum that was on top all of the game, managing to drive over the line to make it 12-10. Finally turning from provider to scorer, Max Holland would score as the game went to half time at 17-10 to Moore.
Moore began the second half brightly with a number of excellent moves which kept breaking down as the begun to look promising. Capenhurst would close the gap even further with another try, but Moore stepped it up another gear to put the result beyond doubt.
In a short stretch Sam Craven would score 10 important points for the club, first scoring a penalty. A huge punt downfield would see the ball find it’s way into the Capenhurst 22, where some excellent defensive work saw the ball turned over and Craven cross the line to take the game to 27-15.
With the game all but secure, Max Holland would add his second try of the day as he crossed the whitewash one final time to take the game to 32-15.
The display capped off an excellent day for Moore and their celebrations carried on deep into the night.
