Club Closure
Message from the Chairman.

I hope this note finds you well during these strange and often difficult times. I thought I would take this opportunity to update you with what has been going on over the last few months and how the current lockdown is affecting our club.

The announcement of lockdown brought a premature end to the season for all of our teams and meant with immediate effect the club had to close its doors until Government direction advises otherwise. As a committee, we have to always consider the long term viability of our club, so we took the difficult decision to furlough Lisa and explored what financial help was available to us. It is important to acknowledge , that whilst our income came to a sudden abrupt halt, with no view as to when we could reopen, we had and continue to have, outgoings that need paying, Rates, Utilities etc. We secured a small business grant from the government, which will help endure us through these unprecedented times.

An awful lot of rugby clubs, many bigger than us, are finding these times extremely difficult and have grave concerns about the future,

At this point, I would like to reassure you all about our future. We are lucky to have three major fund raisers a year, The Music/Gin festival, The Beer festival and of course the Panto. Your support to these events, coupled with some astute financial stewardship, is proving to be absolutely key to our durability, but also underlines the importance of these events to our clubs liquidity. Without these events, the club would be in a very different position, and I ask you all that when we come out of this ready for business, and we will, you continue to support and get behind the club as much as you can. Your support is getting us through this, and key to our future. Thank You.

So, what next? Well, I, like most of you, are waiting with anticipation to hear and understand what the prime minister plans by way of easing the lockdown. What I can tell you is that Pete Franking has been extremely busy, redecorating the club from top to bottom, it really is like a new pin, with a great new colour scheme too! We have followed government guidelines with regards Hygiene and Health and Safety, so that we are absolutely  ready to go when the government say we can open again.

I haven’t mentioned the playing side intentionally. Right now our priority remains to make sure our club is in the best possible position to open our doors, welcome you back, and toast the future, as soon as we are allowed.

Take care all, stay safe, and look forward to seeing you all soon,

Andy Mossop,

AGM & Annual Dinner
Unfortunately both the AGM and Annual Dinner have been postponed. It is hoped that both these events can happen before the new season. Further information when we have it.
