Women's Walking Rugby

Walking Rugby at Moore RUFC has been bringing energy, laughter, and community spirit to the club since its launch in 2019, made possible with the support of the Sale Sharks Foundation. What started as a small, welcoming initiative has grown into a thriving, inclusive group where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game in a relaxed and supportive environment. At its heart, Walking Rugby is about participation and connection—whether you're returning to the sport after years away or trying it for the very first time, you'll find a friendly face and a place on the pitch.

In 2026, the club proudly introduced a dedicated Ladies Walking Rugby side, coached by Rebecca Leanne. Designed especially for those new to rugby, it offers a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics, build confidence, and enjoy being active in a fun, pressure-free setting. It’s more than just a session—it’s a growing community of like-minded women who come together each week to stay fit, develop new skills, and make lasting friendships. The emphasis is always on enjoyment, encouragement, and shared achievement.

Walking Rugby itself is a non-contact version of the traditional game, making it accessible and safe while still capturing all the excitement and teamwork that rugby is known for. It provides a brilliant cardio workout, helping to improve fitness, flexibility, and overall wellbeing, all without the physical demands of full-contact play. Both the mixed and ladies sessions take place at the club every Thursday from 7–8pm, completely free of charge, and boots can even be loaned if needed. As part of the national Walking Rugby Association and supported by Cheshire RFU, Moore RUFC is proud to offer this fantastic initiative to the local community.
