A group of local ladies who pulled on a pair of rugby boots for the first time 12 weeks ago, are preparing for a remarkable milestone on Friday 5th June when they take to the pitch( 6.30pm) at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
They will be joined by other Moore players and teams from Hull FC and The Warrington Wolves Foundation to take part in a Walking Rugby Showcase ahead of the Warrington v Hull super league clash.
In just 3 months, the group has gone from learning the basics of passing and positioning with Coach Rebecca Leanne , to earning the chance to play under stadium lights in front of a growing crowd, arriving for the big game at 8pm.
The ladies group was launched this year and the aim was to keep people active through rugby and share the social side of the sport, to promote inclusion and to build a sense of belonging and confidence.
This month marks the 7th Anniversary of mixed Walking Rugby at Moore RUFC and each Thursday between 7-8pm there are 2 pitches full of people playing the game. All welcome.
