MOORE RUFC are looking to build on the success of their walking rugby team by launching a new offering for the sport.

A new walking rugby group specifically for women of all ages and experience levels has been set up, giving ladies the chance to get active, make friends and get involved in rugby in a friendly, non-contact form.

The group will meet on Thursdays at 7pm at Moss Lane, with sessions free and no experience required. Local professional club Sale Sharks will be helping with the sessions, featuring current stars India Redding and Sam Jee!

Club treasurer Jem Butler established Moore’s original walking rugby team seven years ago and says he would be delighted to see some new faces trying the sport out as they look to build on the legacy left by England winning the Women’s Rugby World Cup on home soil last summer.

“New year is the perfect time to try something new and we like welcoming new faces,” he said.

“The new ladies walking rugby team is about friendship, fitness, feeling welcome and enjoying rugby at your own pace.”

Among those to have already signed up for the new group are Clare Bradshaw – mother of men’s first team coach Matt – as well as Sarah Craven and Jo Wilbraham, whose sons both play for the first team.

Those interested in playing are encouraged to email jo.leah@outlook.com for more info

The first session will begin on 5th March at 7pm at the club.
